Fascinating! This couple has been collecting minimalist (and other modern) art since the late 1950′s. He was a post office worker his entire life and she was a librarian. They paid the bills with her salary and with his they bought art, lots and lots of art. They wouldn’t sell the collection but decided to have the National Gallery come in and help them because their one bedroom NYC apartment was stuffed. I think they said it took like 5 truck loads to move it out of there! The National Gallery has 1000 pieces and each of the 50 states has 50 pieces from their collection now!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy cow! They donated (didn’t sell) all of it! Anyway, I am going to have the boys watch it this weekend and then plan a trip down to the National Gallery to see it.
