Here is what has been happening…

Lots of lilacs and tree peonies.

I thrifted this 1960′s (?) raincoat in FL.  It is so darling!

From H&M.

Vacation and treats from vacation.

My sweet nephew, baby Aiden.  I missed his birth in FL by 2 days :(

Swedish, wooden clogs for Mila from Lucy’s $9.

A lovely new dress for Mila from my mom.

A sand/water table for Mila since she had so much fun with the sand and water at Granzie’s house.

Vintage jewelry from the Clarksburg flea market $1 total.

I actually got some things done!  Framed these lovlies.

Ordered this pepper mill from Amazon since our old one broke.

Finished my British flag bath mat (it is quilted with a towel on the back).  It turned out so cute and it was so fun to do some sewing for the first time in a long while.

It has been a long month of doctors appointments.  Hope to be posting a lot more again.  I have been obsessed with Pinterest during my blogging break!

Here is what we have been up to…

Auntie R gave Darling this scooter.  I love it.  It is so cute!  I need to learn how to drive it.

I got these cute play hair rollers at Unique for Mila.  So cute!

I made two giant batches of strawberry applesauce.  The first was 10 lbs of apples and was so good we ate it in 3 days!  The second batch was 15lbs of apples (I had more red delicious than grannies for the second batch) and 2 lbs strawberries, plus a squeeze of lemon and some honey.  The second batch is not as good.  I think too many red delicious made it too watery and so I tried to cook it down a bit.  It turned into an almost apple butter.  Good, but nothing like the first batch.  Oh I made chicken broth with chicken feet.  It completely changed the texture of the broth.  Very gelatinous!

Mila got her summer sandals.  These were too big, I exchanged them for a size smaller.  I love these salt water sandals so much I ordered myself the red adult version :)

These little potted flowers were 3 for $10 at Giant.  They were such a treat!   I bought the pretty lacey Ikea pots for $2.50 each I think.  I bought them with Giant potted flowers in mind.  They are a perfect fit!

I made some pretty cards.

I bought these lovely lamps with Sacha at Unique for $6.99 each.  I am crazy about them.  They need quite a bit of cleaning/fixing, but they are so very pretty…I can’t wait to get them working!

The last month was a bit hard.  Mila and Liam both went through nasty stomach viruses and I have been dealing with awful rashes all over by face and neck.  I believe I finally figured it out…I have developed a coconut allergy (I haven’t been able to wash my hair in a week).  More on that later…I have been so busy…and then today we lost Moonie.  But Sacha is here and that is fun…and G and I are walking and that is fun.  I have been spending too much time looking on ebay for pink and blue porcelain handled items to take my mind off things.  I got a few new pieces to add to my little collection (Mila already broke my vintage cake separator/cutter…I was so disappointed).  But it is finally March and Spring is nearly here.  All will be well…February always seems like a hard month.

NWT Right Bank Babies Jacket Sz 4/5
I have been trying to ebay this coat since before Mila came home.  I think this coat is from 2009 from Right Bank Babies.  I have only ever seen one come up on ebay before and I lost the auction!  This time I did the buy it now option.  I payed more than I normally would for a coat for Mila but it is new with tags and I still got it for 60% off it’s original price.  It is a size 4/5 and it is reversible so I know she will get a ton of use out of it! I love the fabrics/colors together!  Don’t you just LOVE it?

PS  Here is where I blogged about it before!

Giving Diapers Giving Hope

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

My sister came across this site that provides free cloth diapers to low income families.  It is such a great idea that I have to post about it here.  The lady who started it was inspired to do so because she was a single mom, recently laid off work and had to move in to her parent’s house with her children.  As she was doing the cloth diaper laundry, she thought to herself  “Thank goodness I cloth diaper because if I didn’t I wouldn’t even know how I could buy my children diapers!”.  After our recent job loss adventures, I couldn’t help but connect with this story.  If there is anyway you can send a donation to them, please do!!!!

Instant gratification

Friday, January 13th, 2012

German Glass glitter letters.  LOVE.  I think I might move the darling banner to my sewing area…but I really like the love banner above the door.  Hopefully you can feel the love when you walk into our home and you feel loved when you go back out into the world too:)  The only weird thing is that it looks like EVOL from outside…LOL!  Oh well!

I still haven’t:

1.  Posted pics of the kitchen cabinets because one door isn’t back on yet.

2.  Finished the inside seams of my slipcover and put it on the loveseat to photograph/post pics.

3.  Finished (or even started) the edging on my big blankie.

Which leads me to my new idea.  No more big projects for a while!  I need some small instant gratification projects.  Like?

1.  Cover the two small lampshades with material.

2.  Crochet granny square pillow for the couch.

3.  Crochet a granny stripe or zigzag baby blanket for Emmie.

4.  Finish my bath mats (British flag and LOVE).

5.  What else?  And something with this:

Look how cute!  A Walk in the Woods, Little Red in Whisper by Aneela Hoey.  You can order a “charm pack” (42 5 inch pinked squares) in this and the coordinating fabric from the collection.  What a great idea from bloomeriefabrics.com.  I think Mila might need a quilt with it.

Mila is in a big girl bed :)

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

This is the bed rail I got from Lucy’s for $6.99.  Why do they have to make them so ugly???

Here is the slip cover I made for it.  It turned out super cute.

Here is the cabinet where I keep her clothes.  I always wanted to put a curtain behind the glass…

And here is the knob i got a while ago from Anthropologie.  I love it.

I love this fabric too.

It is a little sparse, but still cozy.  That rocker was in my brother and sister’s room when they were little :)   I think it came from Grams’ house?  Right, Grams?  I have thought about painting it a pale powder blue…

Mila playing with the glass doggies.

Some good finds at Lucy’s

Monday, October 24th, 2011

I went to Lucy’s hoping to find some winter clothes for Mila and came away with some really cute stuff.  I found some nice pink snow pants (lined in fleece and with the original tag still on!), Hanna Anderson rainbow mittens, a corduroy dress in one of my favorite shades of blue, pretty brown tights with pink and blue flowers (they match the dress), a darling, cotton, fair isle sweater and an Angelina Ballerina book that looks new.  Not bad for second hand shopping!  How come I can’t do this well for myself second hand?  I still need some snow boots for Mila but other than that she is set.  Miles on the other hand has outgrown everything from last year.  He needs a coat, boots, gloves, snow pants…everything!
