I spent all my pocket money…

…on bubble gum and candy!  At least, this is the grown up version of bubble gum and candy….fresh flowers, magazines (I do love a good magazine, especially Christmas time ones), special chocolate, and Betsy Johnson knee socks from Marshall’s.  Boy was it FUN!

On the plus side…

Some reading happened last week while I was sick.

Love the UK Magazine Mollie Makes.  Would love a subscription but it is VERY expensive since it is an import…It is all about modern crafting.  Dottie Angel was in the first issue.  Super fun/pretty mag.  I think it is my new favorite!

The Likeness was the second book I read by this author.  The first was Into the Woods.  Both were kind of detective stories…this one had a lot of Gothic elements (maybe the first one did too…can’t remember!).  Fun.  I liked it.

The best mail day ever!!!

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Here is what came for me yesterday…

Two home dec magazines (House Beautiful and Country Living), my skirt fabric and my two Anna Maria Horner patterns.  WOW!  It was FUN to open the mailbox.  I am super happy with my fabric choices!

I think magazine subscriptions are soooooooo wonderful.  A luxury?  Yes!  A small luxury that I love!  Having Netflix (like $8.99/mo?) and my magazines makes getting the mail fun.  I don’t think I would ever be motivated to get the mail otherwise!

What do you think of my fabric?  Isn’t it fabulous?  I can’t wait to get started!

Clothing inspiration…

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

I am not that into clothes…but I do like vintage inspired/retro clothing.  The close up pick is of a corseted sweater!  With a plaid wool 50′s skirt.  I love this!

The last pic is of Bridgett Bardot in Paris 1966.  I have been threatening to buy a (faux) leopard print coat for years!  I just haven’t found one that fits well yet.

These pics are from Lucky mag.  I don’t enjoy Lucky that much.  They send it to me in place of one of those fab dec mag that I used to get but no longer exists.  But I did appreciate these few pics from last month and this month.

Sorry for the poor pic quality.  Someday I will learn how to scan pics!

Decorating inspiration…

Fun article from Oct Country Living (one of the last dec mags that I really enjoy since all my favorite magazines went under recently…Cottage Living, Country Homes, Domino, I loved getting them in the mail.  It made it worth going to the mailbox.  Not just bills, but something to look forward to!).

All the walls painted charcoal gray (all my walls are painted various shades of gray, but not this dark).  LOVE.  LOVE the bits of turquoise and pink (my favorite!).  Love the fancy chandeliers.  Love the mix of antique and modern.  Love that it looks cozy, feminine and still modern.  Love the Union Jack rug idea (she painted it herself on cheap jute or something).  Love the gray duvet from Anthropologie.  I’ve looked at that a million times.  The home owner works for a company called Euro Trash.  I have a couple mag articles torn out about ET.  The woman who owns it has been featured in a couple mags (prob more) and has a fab house herself!  Her blue fridge is vintage!

This would be my dream job…traveling around and buying vintage stuff at flea markets in the US and Europe!   That is what Euro Trash is all about!
